AMBS Practical Leadership Training presents a 4-part online workshop on the topic Women and Power in the Church led by Conference Minister Amy Zimbelman and Pastor Erica Lea-Simka.
The workshop will include looking at case studies, analyzing power dynamics, sharing sermon resources, hearing updates from the research project with Elizabeth Johnson on MC USA women in ministry, watching clips of clergywomen in popular media, and more, while leaving plenty of time for discussion. The hope is that it’s an enlightening and empowering time together!
The workshop will meet virtually on Wednesdays October 9-30 in the afternoons at 3:00-4:30 ET. CEUs available. Register here by October 2 to participate, and feel free to spread the word among anyone else who might be interested.
Michiana Voices for Middle East Peace is hosting Archbishop Emeritus Elias Chacour in Goshen for two events: Wednesday, October 11 (note date change) at Greencrofts’s Jennings Auditorium at 1:00 pm and again on Friday, October 11 at Eighth Street Mennonite Church at 7:00 pm.
As a Palestinian Christian, three-time Nobel Prize nominee Archbishop Elias Chacour has a perspective on the Middle East which is often overlooked. His vision for a future peace is one which needs to be heard. Author of Blood Brothers, We Belong to the Land, and Faith Beyond Despair: Building Hope in the Holy Land – his message of hope, peace, and reconciliation for all in the Holy Land is what is needed in this devastating moment.
A documentary on the Colossian Forum will be released on October 8.
Synopsis: Twelve diverse Christian leaders find hope and fellowship at a series of boundary-breaking retreats in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Brought together by Michael Gulker of The Colossian Forum, five women and seven men struggle with some of today’s most contentious issues. The divisions between them become apparent and test both their common belief in the universal importance of love and kindness and the bonds they build over the course of a year.
Inspiring and provocative, LEAP OF FAITH explores whether we can disagree and still belong to each other in a divided world.
