Transition Team update ..........................................................
This spring, the IN-MI Transition Team put in place an interim arrangement for covering some of the conference ministry responsibilities from April 1 through Dec 31.
Interim assistant conference regional ministers
- Northern Michigan Cluster: Virgil Hershberger, Fairview (Mich.) Mennonite
- Southern Michigan Cluster, Northeastern Indiana Cluster: Jim Carpenter, Locust Grove Mennonite, Burr Oak, Mich.
- North Central Indiana (Elkhart) Cluster: Jonathan Brown, Church Without Walls, Elkhart
- Goshen Area Council: Seferina Garcia DeLeón (began May 1), Iglesia Menonita del Buen Pastor, Goshen
- Swa-Nee Lake Area Council, Southeast Goshen Area Council: Doug Kaufman, Benton Mennonite, Goshen
- Central/Southern Indiana; Kentucky; Tennessee Cluster and Kouts Area Council: Randy Detweiler, Howard-Miami Mennonite, Kokomo, Ind.
The interim assistant conference regional ministers are working out of their own regions. Thank you to these interim staff and their congregations for making time and space available for this ministry!
The Transition Team also created a half-time conference minister position to cover pastoral search and credentialing processes for the entire conference. Doug Kaufman began his role as interim conference minister for leadership transitions on Aug. 4. He will work half time with credentialing and search processes throughout the conference until a person is hired for the long-term position, which may take until the end of December. Doug is continuing to serve half time on the pastoral team at Benton Mennonite, Goshen, Ind., and as interim assistant conference regional minister for the Southeast Goshen and Swa-Nee Lake area councils.
